Hull completely out enthused us on Saturday and effectively beat us at our game. Excellent kicking game with 3-4 defenders running at Wade. I dont blame Sezer one bit for using that tactic. Test him out with the 1st one, if he looks comfy try something different. He didnt look comfy so he got 80 minutes of being put under pressure. The issue i have was our lack of intensity and almost feel as though the players were leaving Wade out to dry, not one player provided him any protection from the oncoming defenders all game. At worst, if after the 1st couple of kicks they'd seen he was struggling, block off the oncoming players and perhaps give a penalty away, but not even once did we look like doing that
The re-jig during the game with Havard playing 2nd row was picked up on BBC by Brierley in commentary saying he doesnt have the same lateral movement that a usual 2nd row would have, and again Sezer played on that. Brierley's commentary as i've said about him before is very insightful from a current player's perspective. He said that because Havard cant move as well laterally, that Smith had a decision to make whether to stay or come in, and the fraction of a second delay, gave someone as smart as Sezer all he needed. So for i think it was Cartwrights 2nd try, he strolled through a gap and for his try there was a similar situation, and again he walked through untouched
Not watched the game back but watching live I thought he caught a couple before he dropped one.
I think he caught 1, but was shaky to say the least and i think most of the ones he did take, there was a fumble. It was clear he wasnt comfortable under the high ball, and as i said dont blame Hull / Sezer for absolutely hammering him with kicks. They needed to win a game, and found a weak link in the Wigan side and played on it. Similar with Havard at 2nd row / Faz at centre, they'd have been insane not to
