| Oh i wish Sky would look and learn. Look how the camera is nicely fixed on the play, no crazy "showing the whole stadium" shots just when someone is taking a drive........no crazy zoom in zoom out when someone makes a break, no the camera is a nice distance to show everything so you can see the runs, the hits and what is actually happening.
The director knows about the game and how to show it, Sky's director seem to be a referee and intent on showing the game from a referee perspective.......which makes the game look poor.
I remember on the five live debate Matt Dawson said RL needs to improve how it shows the game on TV, never has a union man been so right about RL.

| Eh? Sky's coverage is superb. The commentary may be a bit rubbish but the actual coverage (barring the occasional unnecessary shot of coaches, but the Aussies do that too) is great.

| no it isn't. it is fine if you want to play "referee" and watch the whole stadium at every play the ball, oh then they zoom in when the tackle is complete just in case you want to see any messing about.
Aussies have it nailed when it comes to showing the game.

| I've never regarded Sky's camera work as an issue, just it's commentary. Not that I would listen to Matt Dawson anyway, he was probably refering to BBC's coverage which has the ball in the corner or side of the screen for the majority of the game.

| I don't have an issue with the Sky coverage, I do with the BBC coverage, they can't keep up because they're used to doing Union matches which consists of constantly scouring the crowd looking for members of the royal family while nowts happening.

| The commentary for the Aussie coverage is so, so better than Sky though. Mainly because they haven't got half a dozen 'pundits' having a discussion amongst themselves with the game going on in the background.

| I agree with you on that one Matt.
I'm listening to the ABC commentary on the radio now and it's superb, they're describing set moves and reasons for whats happened in detail. Not 'I wonder if they'll go for the little chip over the top' and telling you how many play the balls there have been.
Sky should take a leaf out of Premier Sports coverage with the live video ref, that's a superb feature.

| The Sky game should be shown with how the aussies show it. The people that enjoy Sky coverage are happy to play ref and check that teams are onside at every ptb. I prefer to see the action Sky doesnt show you this, you see midgets running around a stadium.

| The camera angles are pretty much exactly the same. Stop moaning over nothing.

| Stevo, and to a lesser extent, Phil Clark & Eddie are the problem.
Everything about their 'commentary' during the game is terrible and has always been terrible.

| The Aussie networks are head and shoulders above Sky as far as camera angles, punditry and all-round production is concerned.
You only have to look at the tacky and amateur graphics that plague the League coverage on Sky Sports, or the subpar college-standard promos and highlights packages that end every game, or the odious old men who commentate our game.
The production value of League on Sky Sports is and will remain embarrassing for Britain. It's distinctly 3rd-rate when compared with any of the big networks in Australia, and certainly America. I'd go as far as to say it's a problem with Sky Sports itself, rather than League. Through lack of competition they've been allowed to stagnate.
If Rugby League on Sky Sports was a website it would be an old geocities website littered with animated gifs

| To be fair it isn't just a Sky thing or RL thing, if you watch any sport on the BBC or ITV they will be shot in a very similar way. The Euro's football that is on now isn't any better and some of the commentary is beyond tedious (but at least they don't have several people trying to talk at once i guess), and they have the usual heavily repeated shots of the managers and the crowd at anytime they can fit them in.
